Talk about love.
Match-made-in-heaven, head-in-the-clouds, on-cloud-9—call it what you may, but with streaming analytics moving closer and closer to the cloud, the love is apparent. And it’s no wonder: enterprise data warehouses, Hadoop clusters, and relational databases need to store the data before it’s analyzed, facing growing hardware and latency-related costs with each incremental change in volume. But while storage costs are dropping about 15% yearly, data volumes are shooting up over 40%, and the need for real-time results is becoming vital for business success. Therein lies the problem.
As a result, in the last 90 days Amazon Web Services launched their Kinesis Analytics (powered by SQLstream’s streaming analytics platform, Guavus SQLstream); service providers’ shares have gone up across the board; Cloud Expo is getting a lot of international traction in social media; even Fox mentioned cloud-as-the-new-bubble. We’re doing our share changing store-then-query into query-then-(maybe)-store, providing new APIs, pioneering new security standards, and simplifying hybrid landscapes.
