“The 3Cs of the Internet-of-Things: Conditions, Concerns, Commercialization” will run on April 24, 2014

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – April 17, 2014 – SQLstream, Inc., the Big Data Stream Processors company, today announced that it will host a webinar exploring the potential of the Internet-of-Things. With a focus on monetization, the event will expand on harvesting real-time value from IoT services, discussing technology requirements, security concerns and likely directions for commercialization.

The online presentation will be held Thursday, April 24 2014 at 11AM PST.

Damian Black, CEO of SQLstream, will explore why monetization of smart services for the Internet of Things requires technologies capable of processing in-memory, massive volumes of unstructured data of infinite variety. With Big Data storage technologies (such as Hadoop) unable to produce low-latency, real-time responses, Damian will investigate how real-time smart services for the Internet of Things can be delivered as an extension of existing data storage platforms and enterprise systems, and explore alternative architectures such as stream processing.

Topics to be covered include:

  • What is the Internet of Things, and why should we care?
  • What are the main areas most likely to experience rapid growth?
  • What are the impediments to the development of IoT smart services?
  • What are the main concerns regarding IoT implementations?
  • What are the data management requirements for IoT services, and how can they be addressed cost-effectively?

ABOUT THE Internet of Things

What exactly is the Internet of Things? And why should we all care? Discussions about ways to monetize Big Data have been flaring lately, and many give credit to the uprising of smart Things. Yet most discussions fall short of addressing the specifics of monetization, and what will ultimately make the difference between realizing the full potential of the Internet of Things and rescue it from succumbing to the hype.

Our latest webinar is addressing the most important question: How can the Internet of Things be made to work? In an hour-long event, we will focus on dissecting the conditions, concerns and requirements for commercialization.

The presentation, held at 11AM PST on April 24, will explore the technology requirements and areas of greatest value potential, tackling a multitude of hot topics such as stream processing, standards, security, privacy and supplier value chains.
