Damian Black has over twenty-five years in the software infrastructure business. Damian is the author of eleven patents and founder of SQLstream, a massively parallel real-time data engine executing continuous SQL queries against Streaming Big Data and supporting a cloud-based architecture.  He has a first class honors degree from Manchester University, which is the UK’s oldest and leading computer science department, where he won the university prize awarded annually to the highest scoring computer science graduate.

SVP Products and Engineering +

Former Oracle executive, serial entrepreneur and MIT alumnus. Edan Kabatchnik joined Oracle from MIT and rose to Director of Engineering. After leaving Oracle, he founded Eventus Software, which was sold to Segue, a leader in the automated software testing market. As CTO and Executive Vice President of Product Development, Edan conceived and delivered highly scalable enterprise software products in the Web content management space.

Mark brings over 20 years sales experience of leading early stage software companies through high growth. He has achieved multiple sales achievement awards as Top Producer throughout his career including being the #1 Sales Rep at MongoDB in 2013. Mark brings deep experience in the database and real-time application space. He is a graduate of Boston University where he earned his B.S. in Computer Engineering.


jason giaimo

Vice President Finance +

Jason Giaimo serves as the Vice President of Finance at SQLstream Corporation. A seasoned financial executive and former Accenture consultant with over 23 years of accounting and finance experience, he was previously the Corporate Finance Controller of a $70m VC-backed San Francisco software firm, and held the position of Chief Financial Officer of a $25m, 125-person technology and logistics company.

A self-described “scrappy street-smart entrepreneur-turned-CFO from New Jersey,” he has worked as an oil drilling rig roughneck in the oilfields of northern Alaska, and has lived in Cairo (Egypt), England, Alaska and Missouri. Mr. Giaimo is a 3-time US national champion fife soloist (similar to a flute), holds a Masters Degree from Washington University in St. Louis, is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA), a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), and is a former chapter Vice President of the Institute of Management Accountants.

    · Uncover, qualify, nurture, and build the sales opportunity pipeline for the Enterprise.

    · 50% calling marketing-generated (inbound) leads in primarily $100M+ accounts to qualify and schedule meetings for the Enterprise Sale’s Lead.

    · 50% calling companies (outbound) to schedule meetings for the Enterprise Software sales teams.


    Desired skills and experience

    · A hunter mentality to find and cultivate new business.

    · Bachelor degree or equivalent years of experience preferred.

    · Experience and previous success with prospecting for the Enterprise Software market and selling via phone.

    · At least 2-3 years of demand generation or inside sales experience with Enterprise Software sales or related organization.

  • Presales Solution Consultant

    We are looking for highly qualified presales solutions consultants to join our team and support sales opportunities through strategic, consultative selling. These proven presales professionals will collaborate with our customers and ensure the success of our customers throughout the customer journey.

    The presales solutions consultant is the primary technical representative of SQLstream throughout the sales process. This role is critical to SQLstream’s success. You must be able to carry on deep discussions with customers front-line technical experts as well as high-level, business talks with senior executives.



    • Manage and prioritize sales opportunities
    • Clearly articulate the benefits of the SQLstream platform to all levels including line of business managers and “C” level executives
    • Provide input to other cross-functional departments pertaining to prospect requests and product enhancements as needed
    • Maintain account and opportunity updates within our internal sales force automation system to manage and prioritize sales opportunities
    • Develop, present and deliver high-impact demonstrations of the SQLstream solution on a daily basis
    • Perform needs gathering and requirement analysis for new customers


    Desired Skills/Experience

    • 8+ years of experience as successful presales solutions consultant with focus on Technology and Solutions Selling one or more of the following technology products: RDBMS, Middleware, Analytics, Data Warehouse, Business Intelligence, and/or “Big Data” technology targeting enterprise accounts.
    • Network stack experience a plus.
    • BS in Computer Science or other technical major (MS a plus).
    • Experience with MySQL, MS SQL, Oracle SQL, NoSQL, Key Value Stores, REST, Hadoop, Linux, python, C++, Java, and php.
    • Able to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
    • Travel required.

  • Lead Technical Support Engineer


    SQLstream Blaze technical support engineers have the primary responsibility of answering inbound support requests via email and telephone. In addition, they also do the following:

    • Perform “devops”, i.e. monitor customer deployments and manage issues that arise, resolving them directly or engaging others for help
    • Develop test cases for customer issues to confirm software deficiencies
    • Log software and documentation issues when they are found
    • Verify engineering fixes and coordinate software deliveries
    • Propagate knowledge across the company and to customers as needed
    • Quickly learn how to use tools that help diagnose problems
    • Develop and document knowledge and processes

    Skills & experience

    • Significant technical support experience via both telephone and email on a software infrastructure product (5+ years)
    • Significant experience supporting remote Linux based systems (5+ years)
    • Experience deploying and supporting applications (3+ years)
    • Experience and interest in databases; can write SQL queries; has installed RBDMS systems (3+ years)
    • Familiar with technical support process and CRM systems (3+ years)
    • Experience documenting processes (3+ years)
    • Some Java software development experience (1+ years)
    • A Computer Science or Engineering degree
    • Network stack engineering know-how

  • Principal Software Engineer, Database Kernel


    SQLstream Blaze platform engineers have the primary responsibility of developing significant amounts of abstract code in C++ and Java. In addition they will:

    • Design software architectures
    • Prototype new systems and system modules
    • Implement unit and regression tests
    • Troubleshoot defects
    • Integrate external software libraries
    • Profile and tune code
    • Improve and optimize software developed by other engineers
    • Provide raw material to technical authors

    Skills & experience

    • A Computer Science degree
    • Considerable C++ and Java software development proficiency (7+ years)
    • Significant concurrent/multithreaded software aptitude (5+ years)
    • Extensive experience developing software on Linux (5+ years)
