Founded in December 2002, SQLstream was established with a mission to create a simple and affordable way to resolve real-time data and application integration challenges. Founded by leaders in relational databases, OLAP and enterprise software sales, SQLstream embarked on a multi-year development cycle simultaneous with a series of enterprise integration and consulting engagements. The result was a product and road map based on actual customer use cases and experience.

In January of 2008, SQLstream, the product, was released, putting SQLstream, Inc. at the forefront of the Stream Computing market. SQLstream 2.0 combines five years of field experience, five years of development and multiple patents to deliver upon the technical part of the company's mission. SQLstream uses standards based, declarative SQL to provide a dramatically better way to integrate applications and data.
